Valentine’s Day will be upon us shortly, and while I’m a fan of a classy V-Day dinner, maybe you want to do something different. Something a little more fun, but still with plenty of romance (and lots of champagne). You know what I’m getting at (it probably doesn’t hurt that this is a site about brunch and you’ve read the title of this post) – Valentine’s Day brunch!

Lucky for you, San Francisco has a few great Valentine’s Day brunch options. I’ll caveat that by saying that most of them will require you to brunch the weekend before, but that’ll just make it a nice surprise for your paramour and an opportunity to have a couple of special days.

Cupid’s Champagne Brunch Cruise

What’s more romantic than a champagne cruise? Hornblower cruises does regular champagne brunches aboard their boats, and this one’s specially designed for a perfect Valentine’s Day brunch experience. It’s two hours of a brunch buffet and bottomless champagne and OJ (with a full cash bar available if you’re too good for the bubbly) with live music and beautiful views of the bay. It’s on Saturday, February 10, and tickets will run you $85 per person, which is pretty reasonable as Valentine’s Day meals go in San Francisco. The menu looks okay, if not thoroughly exciting, but you’re there for the ambiance anyway.

Top of the Mark

While they’re not advertising a special Valentine’s Day brunch, every Sunday is special at Top of the Mark. It’s one of the most romantic places in the city, and the food is excellent. It’s also a generally classy establishment with excellent service, so I’m confident that if you mention you’re making a reservation for Valentine’s Day brunch, they’ll ensure you have a romantic time.

Galentine’s Day Drunk in Love Bottomless Sangria Brunch

If you want to take your day a different direction, head to SoMa StrEat Food Park (y’know, the spot in SOMA with all the food trucks). While it doesn’t say it explicitly, something about this event feels like it’s more targeted at women than us men folk. They’ll be playing Beyonce and Rihanna all day (over/under on plays of Single Ladies is roughly a million… take the over) and you can drink Sangria to your heart’s delight. After all – that’s what Valentine’s Day brunch is about – the heart… and a lot of booze. $25 if you buy early and $30 if not, and their brunch will run from 11am-3pm on Sunday, February 11.
